Dear Mr. Newton,
My name is Jason Patterson and I am a rising senior majoring in Civil Engineering at Clemson University. As graduation nears, I am starting to prepare myself and my resume for my job search. I am contacting you because you are well established as an engineer. You have seen many engineers accel and fail at competing for jobs. I am requesting a meeting, which should take no more than 15 minutes, where I would be able to discuss with you the qualities that make a successful engineer. I would also like for you to look over my materials and advise me on how to strengthen my resume. This is not an atempt to be hired. However, I am seeking advice on how I should prepare myself, so that I would be highly desired in the competitive job market of today's society.
Thank you for your time and consideration. I will call your office next week to set up an appointment if your schedule allows.
Sincerely,
Jason Patterson

Check spelling (accel) and perhaps take the sentence about being hired out of the passive and say something like, "please understand, I am not asking you for employment". Other than that, you're set.
