Response to Collaborative Post: Kinsey Knight and Bobby Cole

After reading several collaborative definitions of technical writing, I have enjoyed gaining insight on how many of my classmates view the term. I especially liked Kinsey and Bobby's introduction, declaring technical writing " is used for the purpose of conveying specific information to a targeted audience." This is an important feature of technical writing that applies to all professions, dissimilar and alike. While it is difficult to give a thorough definition of technical writing in 200 words or less, I thought Kinsey and Bobby did a good job covering a broad range of information with limited word usage. Although their definition did not relate technical writing to any particular profession, it did briefly mention several different compositions that can be viewed as "technical." I also liked the brief explanation of how technical writing allows many people from different professions to work together. All of the collaborative definitions share some commonality, but I chose to write about this one because of its simplicity and general coverage of the term.
