Response to Technical writing defined: Kinsey Knight and Bobby Cole

This post emphasizes the importance of a effective piece of technical writing. I really like the beginning of the definition and feel this is the most important part. They begin with, "Technical writing is used for the purpose of conveying specific information to a targeted audience. It is necessary that technical writing be clear and concise, presenting the most accurate information possible in a manner that is easily accessible to a variety of readers. " I like this because they relay the information that technical writing is for a Targeted audience. Also they say that technical writing must be clear and concise and have only the most important facts. The only part with this post that I disagree with, and actually it isn't as much disagreeing as it is expanding upon, is the fact where they mention technical writing should be "in an appealing format that draws a reader’s attention." I don't feel that all technical writing should be in an appealing format to catch the reader's attention. Where this may be a bonus, when possible, for me being a Civil Engineer, many of my reports will just be facts and it would be hard to make it grab someone's attention. Now I understand on a document such as a resume, of course you would want to catch the interview's attention fast. Therefore, I do understand the message they are trying to relay, I just don't feel that this should be a must, but when possible should be used. Overall, I felt this was a very accurate definition.
