Rational for Collaborative Project: Shayaa Smiley and Rodney Ragin

One reason for choosing this project is that Shayaa has been in the program and has seen the positive effect it has on the community as well as the youth. This program will help to build these kids mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. The Eastminster church in Columbia supports the program fully and financially supports the program but they have to proportion the monies according to a budget and the program does not get all that it could use. The director sometimes uses personal expenses to help pay the operating cost brought about by the program. We hope to help the program buy attracting more supporters to donate money to help fund the program and its activities. Another reason is because the program is non-profit. There are no monetary benefits from helping the children, but the satisfaction from seeing these youth have the opportunity to reach their potential and live positive lives is enough to keep the program going. It would be nice to help those that help others selflessly.
