Collaborative Post: Robin Payne, Mary Hallums, and Amanda Venable

For our project, we have chosen the Ministries of Mercy at Washington Avenue Baptist Church in Greenville, SC. This church currently provides a meal for the homeless every Saturday morning and dinners at the Triune Mercy Center in downtown Greenville on Wednesday nights. They also have a food pantry that feeds several families in the local community. We felt that this would be a great organization to support because these ministries have had an incredible impact on the community in and around downtown Greenville. The church has tons of volunteers who are willing to serve in these ministries. Unfortunately, the church does not have the funding to expand the projects. The church would also like for this ministry to become separate from the church, so that the community will feel that they can become more involved. By setting up this website, one thing we hope to accomplish is to make people aware of what is going on and hopefully they will want to help as well. This will help the ministry to reach its goal of becoming completely separate from the Baptist denomination and becoming more of a community project. We will also be setting up information to make donations of food and money. Setting up this website will be helpful later in a career by teaching us how to set up information about any sort of project Making this website will allow to be able to say "yeah, I've made a website before" when we are looking for jobs. It is especially helpful for marketing purposes.
