My name is Jenna Moskow. I am a Junior at Clemson University studying Biological Sciences with a minor in Spanish. I had hopes of attending Medical School in the Spring of 2010. Since you work in the Human Resources department at the Medical University of South Carolina, I would like to set up an appointment with you for an interview on what might make my application more desirable to people in your line of work.

Jenna, most of this looks quite good, but in the letter where you ask for the interview, it sounds like you've given up hope. Rather than writing "I had hoped" I would suggest something like "I hope" or "I plan" or something that indicates that you still intend to go. :-)
