Dear Mr. Satterfield,

I am a Clemson University Mechanical Engineering student whom is about to explore the job market. I want to know what potential employers are looking for in an employee. Since you are in the same field as I am, I was wondering if I could set up a meeting with you to discuss this subject.

Please know that I am not looking for a job, but that I am simply interested to discover how I may look more appealing to employers. I will contact you next week in hopes that I will be able to set up a meeting. Thank you for your time and I look forward to meeting you.

Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Satterfield,

I want to thank you again for providing me the opportunity to talk to me about how to improve my resume for potential employers. I learned much from what you had to say and found that the classes you suggested was particularly useful. I also want to thank you for improving my resume on the parts that needed improvement. This helps me to know what I can do to improve when I am looking for a job in the future. Again, I appreciate the time you took to talk to me and help me understand exactly what potential employers are looking for in an employee.

Sincerely,

David Floyd(this is supposed to be my signature in cursive)

Nice job. I would suggest, however, that you delete some of the work experience (especially picking up trash) that doesn't have directly transferable skills, and replace it with more information about skills and competencies.
