Progress Report: Individual Project #1
My project has been going smooth. I have set it up to cater to the reader's convenience . I began with a definition of technical writing. I used my personal definition from blogger, as well as my collaborative definition to explain what technical writing is and how it has many different forms. I opened up my paper this way because I felt it was important for the reader to have a general understanding of technical writing and communication before I drowned him out with information that he might not yet understand. After all, the first thing we had to do in class was define technical writing and I felt that was a great opening assignment to familiarize us with the subject matter.
Secondly, I moved into a student preparation section that is directly based on my interview with a professional realtor. In this section, I wanted to show the reader how professionals use technical writing and most importantly how to obtain the skills necessary to become an effective technical writer and communicator. This section is one of the most beneficial sections of the project because it shows real world application. Real world application is extremely important to readers because when they read documents they often find themselves pondering the question, " How am I ever going to use this in the real world? " I have not only informed the reader, I have even demonstrated how a professional realtor applies technical writing on a day to day basis.
In my third and final section, I briefly elaborated on the competitive workplace of real estate and combined it with my conclusion and closing remarks. This section gives the reader some insight on how important it is to keep up with technology, especially the internet and computers. I ended the paper with words that might be viewed by some as discouraging, but in reality, they convey that success in the real estate game comes at a price. I have incorporated numerous sources throughout my paper which can be viewed in the works cited section below my conclusion.
