Individual Post #3 - Response to "Collaborative" Post #1- David Floyd, Post #2 - Interview Results - AJ, and Jenna's second interview

"Collaborative" Post #1- David Floyd

I think that the first sentence of this paragraph is a good single-sentence definition of technical writing. It emphasizes both the usual subject matter of technical writing (technology/processes), and the importance of making the writing comprehensible to the intended audience. The rest of the post is very good too because it describes in more detail the qualities of technical writing.

Post #2 - Interview Results (AJ)

The first thing that struck me after reading AJ's post was the similarity between our interview results. Since we have the same majors, AJ's interview was relevant to me as well and I'm glad I had the opportunity to read it. I am glad that Dr. Kennedy stressed the importance of professionalism in writing, because that is one aspect of technical writing that I think is very important. Especially when writing in journals, technical writing should just be a clear and concise way of communicating information. I think that "professionalism" means not including personal information in writing, and staying on topic, and maybe a few other things. I agree that professionalism is an important quality of technical writing.

Individual Post #2- 2nd Interview (Jenna)

I think the most important point from this post was the emphasis that was placed on the importance of gaining experience. Experience is always helpful, whether it is experience in a certain profession or experience with technical writing. I don't have much more to say about this post, but I was wondering if some doctors do have to write journal articles or reports like engineers?
