Repost – Response to Special Education Interview

I thought this was a very informative interview. Even though I have no experience teaching, I have had years of experience sitting in the classroom. I thought Mr. Brenner did a great job explaining the importance of written and verbal communication in the classroom. Failure to develop these skills can make learning very difficult and also makes the teacher difficult to approach with questions. Anything from bad handwriting on the chalk board to strong foreign accents with poor pronunciation can be discouraging to a child’s ability to learn. I also thought Mr. Brenner did a great job explaining the importance of communication with parents when working with children, especially those with special needs. Oftentimes, poor parent-teacher communication causes unnecessary tension between the teacher and the student. I thought Mr. Brenner’s theory of face-to-face communication is definitely the best type for any parent-teacher relationship. I thought this was a very interesting interview. Good luck developing your communication skills and I wish you success in the classroom.
