Question about Project 1-- with answers

These are the answers to Amy's questions, posted below.
The key to the tone is that they asked you for your recommendations, so you don't have to go so far as trying to persuade, but you definitely aren't trying to hide your opinion--that's what they asked you for. So you give them your recs, and your reasons for them in a business-like manner, but making free use of your own experiences (again, because that is why they came to you--they want to know of your experiences.)

1) Is the tone supposed to be more persuasive or reportive?

So you give them your recs, and your reasons for them in a business-like manner, but making free use of your own experiences (again, because that is why they came to you--they want to know of your experiences.)
2) I am still having trouble with making my paper much less like a school
paper and much more like a report (using the examples in the handbook, as
noted in the assignment.
Here are some things you may want to consider to help you with making it more like a report:
- Use clear, user-center navigation mechanisms (subject headings, bullets, spacing.)
- Focus on product rather than process, keeping in mind that how you acquired the information is less interesting to your audience than the recommendations (which are your conclusion.)
- relate the information to the goals of the organization. For instance--they are interested as you as *a* student, but even more interested in improving the quality of education for *all* students.
