Grades for 1st Drafts of Project #1

If you turned in a first draft of project #1, your grade is now posted on BlackBoard, and you should have received comments from me to help you revise. Obviously, my comments are coming to you a bit late. What we're going to do is talk a bit about the projects today and let you have the opportunity to ask questions, then you can have time to revise again.

To remind you of the process: **When you revise, your new grade **REPLACES** your draft grade. My intent is to reward you for what you learn, not penalize you for where you start out, so if your grade is not what you want (and it usually isn't) you get to work on it and make it what you want.

I mentioned this at the beginning of class, but it usually bears repeating after the first grades are posted: I understand that this course has different writing demands than most of your courses. You have to learn a completely different skillset, and you have to figure things out on your own. That is why we have the drafting system--so that you get to take a stab at it, then get feedback, then try again. (Better to do that here, in class, than on your job.)

If you have questions, let me know. See you in just a bit.

T. F.
